Canon Model IIC

Your camera would appear to be a Model IIC. It has the following distinguishing features:

  • No Model Name on Camera
  • Top Shutter Speed 1/500th
  • Has a Slow Speed Dial
  • Top speed on slow dial is 25
  • Has a 2 pc View Finder Selector Lever

Dates: March 1951 thru August 1951

Produced: 800

Ser. Nos.:  50200 thru 57850

The IIC was designed as an economy version of the new 1951 models but this plan did not carry through because of the continued production of the IIB.

Essentially the IIC is a Model III without the 1000th shutter speed. Otherwise they are almost identical.

This is not to be confused with the Model 1950 which briefly had the same designation. They are distinct models. For this story look up the description of the Model 1950.
