  • Maximum Shutter speed 1/500th
  • No Slow Speed Dial
Model Date Model Date Model Date
Canon J Jan 1939   Canon J II Dec 1945   Canon II AF Jun 1953
Canon NS 1940   Canon II A Mar 1952   Canon II AX Jun 1953

Fourth Question:

Does the Camera have a View Finder Lever?

Some Canon Rangefinder cameras did not have a View Finder Lever under the rewind knob. It had no adjustment for field of view or the optics changed by some other means,

On the left side of the top plate, under the rewind knob, this camera has a View Finder Lever. This changes the optical magnification in the View Finder to simulate various focal lengths of lens.

On the left, under the Re Wind Knob, there is no View Finder Lever. Either your camera is an early model, such as this one, or it is a newer model with a different way to change the optical magnification.

If you make a wrong selection you can go back one step or all the way to the beginning one step at a time. If you simply get lost or want to look up another camera you can go straight to the beginning again and start over. Or, if you feel you don’t need all the explanations you can go to the Rapid Finder. You get the same questions but in abbreviated form with no discussion or photos.
