It is a sad truth that we do not have enought ime to keep up to date with our families and friends. I always thought that retirement would mean time to relax, reflect on life and maybe write my memoirs. That was a misjudgement! I have never been so busy in my life and keeping up with those I love and enjoy is a major challenge.

The evening was warm and lovely so we set up for dinner on the patio. It was a wonderful setting surrounded, as we were, by Susan’s gardens and flowers.

This is especially true with my children. I just don’t see enough of them and I miss them.

Today we had a special treat when Flynn and Keiko agreed to come over for supper with Olivia and Sophia. The girls love pasta so we set the table on the patio and Susan cooked up pasta for the girls. Susan has no recipe: she just makes it from her head and it is always good. This night it was particularly fine.

After dinner I insisted on a photograph and gathered everyone out on the lawn. The sun was going down and we were in the shadows of early evening but we got a great picture anyway.

It would have been nice to sit longer after dinner but the girls had a meeting they had to get to so we said good-bye a little early. Flynn and Keiko work so hard with Olivia and Sophia. I admire their skill and dedication as parents.

Here we all are! Susan and I are sitting with Flynn, Keiko, Olivia and Sophia around us. I treasure pictures like this.
