The Selfie Project – March to May
Well, here we are into our fifth two month segment and getting close to the end of this project. I cannot say I will be sorry. It has been a challenge to come up with interesting phots and, as you can see, I often fail in that goal. It is amazing how much time this actually takes.
I have already chosen next years project but you will have to wait to hear about it. But it should be fun. Stay tuned.
15 March 2021 – With all of the pictures of me with a coffee cup you might get the idea that I do nothing but drink coffee. Well …. OK, so what? I like it! Every morning I sit here and have my coffee and read the news on my smartphone. Rituals are good!
16 March 2021 – I am taking a coffee break sitting on the Great Wall. It is finished at this end and I am working on the far end now. It will look so much better when the garden grows over it.
18 March 2021 – Off to the store for Susan.
19 March 2021 – Working on the Wall. Almost to the end now but there is still lots to do. I have to finishe the Wall itself and then there is the sidewalk to level.
17 March 2021 – Susan has been working in the garden and I have been working on the Wall but we are taking a break.
20 March 2021 – Check out the tomato plants. This time every year the kitchen window sill is full of seeds in dirt waitig for them to sprout. These have already begun and in another two weeks they will be set outside.
21 March 2021 – The first sign of spring: the daffodils are up. I love this time of year!
22 March 2021 – Cutting re bar for the Wall footings. Nico brought me so much steel bar this wall will last forever!
24 March 2021 – Chilies tonight for dinner. I fry them up then add tomatoes, onions, beans and a little meat. One of my favorite dishes. The oil goes in the pot. The wine goes in the cook!
23 March 2021 – We are working on the last section now. It has been a big project but it will make the garden so much neater.
25 March 2021 – Every year I spend hours taking pictures of Susan’s garden.
26 March 2021 – I love my old film cameras. I shoot a lot of film. Once I have exposed the film I develop it myself and then scan the images into the computer.
27 March 2021 – Not much smell!
28 March 2021 – Power Washing the back gate.
29 March 2021 – Domenic drops by.
30 March 2021 – Camen joins me for a glass of wine.
31 March 2021 – At Superstore with Susan.
Our April Fools!
1 April 2021 – The Lawn Crew. These are the guys that keep our grass green and soft all summer. They don’t look like much but the know their grass!
2 April 2021 – The Great Wall of Susan is done and I am celebrating. Now we just have to wait for the garden to grow.
4 April 2021 – We went up to see our friend Bob today. He lives in the woods above Pitt River. This tractor was near his home on the side of the road.
6 April 2021 – It is time to change the message. I love the sunshine!
7 April 2021 – Susan is out this morning with a girlfriend. That is when I make myself French Toast and bacon. She won’t let me eat Canadian when she’s home.
3 April 2021 – This is my Official Spring Portrait! So far this year I think I like this picture the best of all of them.
5 April 2021 – This is the reason I put fertilizer on the grass in January. It pays off when the sun comes out in the spring.
8 April 2021 – To-night it will be BBQ! We are going to drag out the grill for the first time this year. Steak with baked potato with sour cream.
10 April 2021 – As I have said time and again: my morning routine starts with coffee. Strong coffee!
9 April 2021 – Susan carries the load cooking and keeping house. I help out a little but too little to mention. My jobs are more of the construction and repair kind. Usually.
11 April 2021 – We have a leak in the gutter that needs sealing.
15 April 2021 – My poor car never gets washed. I finally gave in and washed the poor thing! He was very grateful.
12 April 2021 – Susan and I power washing the pation for Spring.
13 April 2021 – Will and Wilma from across the back alley come over for a visit.
14 April 2021 – Voila! C’est finis! Now bring on the veggies. We are ready.
16 April 2021 – Today I bottled the blackberry wine. Now all I have to do is drink it. Well, someones gotta do it! Right?
17 April 2021 – The tulips are out on the fron garden wall. I love the spring! Susan keeps this place looking so nice it is a joy to walk around and look at it.
18 April 2021 – Here I am at Control Central. This is where the magic happens.
19 April 2021 – Look at that sidewalk and wall behind me. Pretty amazing, eh?
20 April 2021 – Flowers are up and the gardens are filling in now.
22 April 2021 – we are taking a break and testing the Blackberry Wine. I don’t think it will have a chance to get very old.
21 April 2021 – Nice flowers but I can’t take my eyes off that wonderful wall in the background. Now that is pretty amazing.
23 April 2021 – Spring is great but it does bring its own problems! I’ve got two of them here. I am going to do the first cut of the year right now.
24 April 2021 – Look at this grass! I love it!
25 April 2021 – The hanging baskets are filling in.
23 April 2021 – A new box for the deck off the kitchen.
30 April 2021 – Leek soup to-night. Cooking this soup is one of my jobs. It’s really simple. Cut up the leeks really fine and saute in a pot with onions and garlic. Add chicken broth and several chopped potatoes. Cook until everything is soft and then blend it with my Braun hand blender. Add some cream and bring it back to simmer. Then serve with parsley and butter or sour cream. It is a very mild soup with a gentle flavor. Love it!
27 April 2021 – One of the faucets in the garden is leaking. I put this water system in twenty years ago. It is amazing it still works at all. One of these days I will have to replace it.
28 April 2021 – At Wing Wong Farms shopping for plants with Susan. This has bcome a yearly ritual.
29 April 2021 – Hey! Blackberries in April!
1 May 2021 – The tomatoes are planted in my new boxes on the side of the house.
2 May 2021 – Coffee, coffee, coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee!, Coffee, Coffee !!
3 May 2021 – Sitting in mu “Italian” chair on my beautiful grass. I love this yard.
4 May 2021 – You can never have too many friends!
6 May 2021 – I wish some of these flowers lasted longer.
5 May 2021 – I love shooting with my old cameras. This is a film camera of course and fun to shoot.
7 May 2021 – I think we are having potato leek soup tonight. Fantastic!
8 May 2021 – I love this tweed jacket. Susan hates it and won’t let me wear it in the house.
9 May 2021 – The rosemary is in bloom. For me, the smell of rosemary transports me to Italy every time. Benito had a hedge of this plant that was incredible.
10 May 2021 – Sitting under the peach tree which is spreading its leaves now.
11 May 2021 – The hanging baskets are up and now we have to wait.
12 May 2021 – As I said, potato leek soup. And wine for the cook, of course!
13 May 2021 – Working on a manuscript for a book about my travels in Italy.
14 May 2021 – One of my jobs is to pound in the stakes for the peas, tomatoes and beans.
